Our esteemed Designated Partner (Chairman) Dr. Balakrishna V Hegde was a visionary ahead of his time.
Dr. Hegde was a highly qualified Cardiologist, who passed his MS (Medicine) 1st Class with Honors from the University of Southern California, Graduate School of Medicine (Los Angeles).
Dr. Hegde was a respected Professor of Medicine in the United States of America. His speciality was Myocardial infarction - a subject in which he had done research and presented his findings at International medical conferences.
He chose to return to India and utilize his vast experience in the field of pharmaceutical marketing. In India, he was associated with Roche Pharma for 6 years and then joined Johnson & Johnson Ltd, where he served as the Chief Executive Officer of Ethnor Limited for 20 years. He is credited with building Ethnor into an integrated multi-crore Company. Additionally, Dr. B V Hegde was the Executive Director and Vice President of Johnson & Johnson Limited.
On his retirement from Johnson & Johnson, Dr. Hegde set up and built Hegde & Hegde Pharmaceutica LLP (formerly H & H Pharmaceutica) together with his son Dr. Hemanth Hegde.
Hegde & Hegde Pharmaceutica LLP began its journey in May 1989. Operations began in the 3 Southern Indian States of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Operations expanded in a phased manner in different regions and States until we had established markets in every State and Union Territory. Today, Hegde & Hegde has 6 divisions promoting more than 150 products.
Dr. Hegde’s vision has been the guiding force in charting H & H’s path over the years. His credo of developing and providing high-quality products has become the trademark of Hegde & Hegde Pharmaceutica LLP. Within the Company, Dr. B V Hegde became a father figure for staff – always willing to lend an ear to problems and suggest positive solutions.
As Founders, Dr. B V Hegde and his son Dr. H Hegde, strove to establish and build Hegde & Hegde Pharmaceutica LLP by practising a “Hands-on” work ethic - working along with Executives and staff in every department of the Company. They developed formulations, supervised product manufacture, designed product promotion, devised marketing strategies, monitored finance and accounts – even worked in the field with frontline staff, meeting doctors and personally promoting products during medical conferences. Their personal touch and accessibility, together with their ethical transparency have endeared them to doctors, patients and Distributors, commanding much respect in the field of pharma marketing.
Associated with the pharmaceutical market for more than 50 years, Dr. Hegde remained actively involved with the Company he founded and built till he passed away in 2020.
Dr. B V Hegde’s legacy is a strong, vibrant Company built on a highly principled work ethic. His vision is carried forward under the leadership of his dynamic son Dr. H Hegde whose personal attention to detail has ensured that Hegde & Hegde’s commitment to providing high-quality pharmaceutical products is maintained.
